Introducing                        Star Bright Arts

Share, Play, Move & Make...Together!!!

Hello and welcome to Star Bright Arts!

This website has been created to tell you a little bit about what we do!

Star Bright Arts (SBA) aims to promote health, well-being and create a space for social connection through arts activities. We have experience of delivering lots of different types of arts provision including storytelling, drama, movement, music, creative writing and crafts.

We are in the process of making a selection of activities and events, starting with the delivery of our brand new program of work, Tyne-y Tales - Sensory Story Sessions for Babies and their Grown-Ups!

Keep coming back to see what else we are getting up to!

Elena Joy Miller

Creative Director of Star Bright Arts

Elena Joy Miller is a storyteller, writer, actor, singer, puppeteer and arts facilitator. She has been working in and around the North East for 18 years.

Elena left university after studying Drama in 2004 and then a Masters in Performance Studies in 2006. She strived to share her skills with others once she finished her degrees. She has always been amazed at the power that the Arts can have for change – whether that be to convey a message, allow voices to be heard or build confidence and abilities.

Alongside SBA she also works for TIN Arts in Durham as a drama facilitator and as a Clown Doctor on the wards of the Newcastle Hospitals. She has written and performed storytelling events in TIN's inclusive arts festival, IncludFEST. (See bottom of page for link)

She is also an Associate Artists with Blue Cabin and has most recently been developing and delivering All About Me - Creative Life Story Work sessions for children in care and their carers across 4 local authorities.

She is also a board member and puppeteer/facilitator with PuppetShip CIC, delivering performances and puppet-making workshops locally and nationally.

Elena lives with her son just north of Newcastle in a teeny town called Seaton Burn! She can often be found making up daft songs on her ukulele, trying to remember important football facts and genuinely enjoying cold coffee!

Jayne Humphreys

Associate Artist

Jayne has been a Creative Practitioner in the North East for 10 years.

Jayne started her career in improvisation in an early iteration of the renowned improv group 'The Suggestibles', and still performs in the Suggestibles ‘kidprov’ family friendly shows at improv fest and most recently ‘Byker’s Best Summer Ever’ for Northern Stage.

Jayne was a Creative Associate with theatre company Precious Cargo, whose works included plays ‘When She Went’, ‘The Last Drop’ and ‘Into Thin Air’.  Jayne has performed in walk about acts, and family improv performances with Precious Cargo at Solfest Festival, Cumbria.

In her spare time she enjoys watching dog videos on tik tok, painting and trying to convince her 13 yr old boy she is still cool.
